How long until the April 8 total solar eclipse in Austin? Check out our countdown

Ryan Maxin
Austin American-Statesman

The total solar eclipse that has Austin buzzing is less than two weeks away.

On April 8, the moon's path will intersect with the sun's, casting a wide shadow over Texas and the rest of the country. Austin is directly in that shadow's path, meaning it will be pitch black in the city from about 1:35 p.m. to 1:38 p.m. The eclipse will be partly visible starting at 12:17 p.m.
