Evacuated by Hurricane Harvey? Get a library card, head to the Toybrary for free

The Austin Public Library knows there might be evacuees from Southeast Texas who might be here for a while. It’s offering a library card that will allow you access to the library and the ability to check out three items at a time as well as see the virtual library.

The public library has a lot of different events for kids, plus you can pick up a book while you’re there. Moviles Lessin was reading a book to her daughter Gwen at the library’s downtown location in 2012.

Head to a library branch and present some form of photo ID and you’re in. If you don’t have an ID, you can call Customer Service at 512-974-7475 . Find your closest library branch at library.austintexas.gov. The library also has a lot of free activities for kids and adults, too.

For another kind of library, the Toybrary, which is a lending library of toys, is offering free entrance for people who have been evacuated. You can come for free at 2001 Justin Lane all week with a driver’s license. toybraryaustin.com

We’ve already told you that evacuees can play for free at Catch Air locations in Austin and Round Rock this month.
